And the winner is ….

So far there’s one restaurant I would recommend to those who want to eat in a typical Venetian place and enjoy a cosy atmosphere and good food at a reasonable price.

Campiello Remer

Campiello Remer restaurant

This place is the Taverna del Campiello Remer, which is sited in the only “campiello” (little square) in Venice that opens directly onto the Grand Canal.

Ouside the restaurant you can enjoy a beautiful view on the Canal and on Rialto bridge. Inside, you will find a warm ambience, furnished like a traditional Venetian tavern, but with a touch of class.

The restaurant is run by Emilio Farinon and Angela Cook, who fell in love with each other and with Venice and decided to open this characteristic tavern. The couple transformed into a restaurant a building wich was originally a warehouse, built in the 15th century.  The floor and walls with old bricks, the 16th century-doors from Tuscany, the old glasses, lamps and wooden beams, together with the wooden tables with candles create a a really suggestive atmophere.

Here you can have good fish dishes at a price which is not the lowest in town but it is fair. Your meal will be delighted by live music.

From 5.30 to 7.30 pm you can enjoy a rich buffet for an aperitif.
